My Work

One of the things I love about being in IT is being a able to plan for the future. It’s like a giant jig-saw puzzle to help a business get all the right pieces in place to be able to grow into an enterprise. The average person is so clueless about all the things that need to happen behind the scenes but that’s me. Being nerdy behind the scenes.

Current Work

  Feedwire

Providing IT services to over 1,000 clients a year although their day to day tend to only be a handful of repeat business customers though. They also provide their services, at cost, to Black Lives Matters and LA Pride as a way to give back.

Past Work

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

An incredibly audacious non-profit that raised $200 million in order to almost double survivability of pancreatic cancer patients nationally from 6% to 10% by 2020.

Barebones Networking

Managed IT services company that ultimately ended up being an overtime wage thief (see my Reviews page) but it was a great experience to learn MSP tools like Connectwise and great coworkers.

CVTTSI

A totally fun project to plan and build the campus network of a high-end resort in north San Diego county, Rancho Valencia.

Aurora Systems Consulting

A fun gig doing a couple projects implementing whole disk encryption for enterprises.

FEMA – Region IX

Rewarding work learning how to deploy full call center networks quickly. Thankfully, I was never on the phones listening to the heart breaking stories of peoples lives being ruined by disasters. I remember some call center agents crying in the bathroom after some calls.

YMCA of the Foothills

My first non-profit doing IT. It was a great place to learn about TechSoup and the constraints that I wasn’t used to in a business.

Earthlink, Inc.

Ah, the days of dialup Internet and early web hosting. All the fundamentals of the Internet I learned here still serve me today.

Investing Side Hustles

Real Estate – I haven’t started the BRRRRR Method yet but I will soon once I’ve saved up enough money.

Cryptocurrencies – I bought a whole bunch of altcoins with my bitcoin that all ended up being shitcoins instead of HODL’ing. I haven’t saved enough to reinvest in bitcoin yet.

Seems like the theme here that you have to have money, to make money. *sigh* Lottery anyone?
