Barebones Networking (reborn as AllSafe IT)

I was awarded $36K in overtime backpay by the California Industrial Relations Board but because they’re not officially a company (expired corporate registration with the Secretary of State for many years), it was problematic to go after any assets. I’ve reached out to the owner and he’s confirmed that he won’t do the right thing and pay any backpay. That is wage theft. They’ve tried to hide their bad reputation by changing their name but it’s the same company. For more information, click on the company name link above.

         Equinox

I love this chain gym as it’s convenient, clean, well managed, has national locations and employs many LGBT staff (as does Equinox Fitness’ other brands, SoulCycle, PURE Yoga, Blink Fitness and The Yorkville Club) but in August of 1019, the owner (60%) of parent company, The Related Companies, organized a fundraiser for Trump where a seat went for $100K and raised over $12 million. In response to the controversy, Equinox in the last half of August 2019, committed to donating $1 million to one of five charities that members could vote on. At the end of the day, for me, even though many LGBT trainers would be losing out on personal training sessions, I can’t spend almost $2,500 a year on a company who’s profits go to someone raising money for a president who hates me (I’m not White, Christian or straight.) This is also in solidarity with the #grabyourwallet campaign. I’ve switched to The Bay Club. If they change owners, I would seriously reconsider going back. Again, another company that hates me (the non-straight part). I’ve never eaten there nor will I ever in the future. There is an opportunity for them to come to Jesus and preach love instead of hate but I don’t see them working with GLAAD anytime soon. There are many great options as of August 2019, such as Popeyes and Wendy’s. For more information, click on the company name link above.

         Planet Fitness

The irony is that their slogan is “The Judgement Free Zone” but their CEO is donating to politicians that discriminate against LGBT people.
